About this Performance:

“For a Look or Touch” from Out of Darkness by Jake Heggie with libretto by Gene Scheer illuminates Nazi persecution of homosexuals by sharing the story of Gad Beck (1923-2012), a gay German-Jew.

We Will Outlive Them… Letters to Rivka from Galicia, is a song cycle world premiere for piano and soprano. The contents of the cycle includes letters from the Zeider family living in Galicia (~1925-1948), to their family member in America, Rivka Teitel. The song is titled in honor of the cry of Jewish resilience during the Holocaust: “We will outlive them”.
