DESCRIPTION:MEET THE REAL KING DAVID:\n“Moses has the Ten Commandments\, it’s true\, but I’ve got much better lines. I’ve got the poetry & passage\, savage violence & the plain raw civilizing grief of human heartbreak.” – says King David in Joseph Heller’s novel\, GOD KNOWS. \nWhat makes the Biblical David narratives so compelling?\nDavid get’s the most ink\, by far\, in the Tanakh\, & his story contains the foundation of Jewish & Christian Messianism. \nTake a deep dive into the relevant Biblical sources examining David\, his women\, children\, generals\, & other pivotal figures. The Historical perspective will be explored through Archeological findings. \nIn addition\, this course will study other key royals\, such as Saul\, leader before the Davidic Monarchy\, Solomon\, David’s successor\, Athaliah\, the ruthless Queen who ruled Judea for 6 years\, Omri\, the founding King of Israel\, & Hezekiah\, whose arrogance nearly led to the destruction of Jerusalem. \nRegistration: \n\n$375 payable to David Bernat directly via check by mail or Venmo.\nPlease contact the office to register office@bostonsynagogue.org
