SUMMARY:Meditation in The Sukkah: Making Breathing Room for a Spacious Year
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a serene learning and mindfulness practice session offered in partnership with RUACH. \n\n\n\n\nIn the slow fade into autumn\, Jewish tradition invites us to sit in hand-crafted outdoor dwellings and touch the joy of a brand new year. In an age of screens\, traffic\, and the pressures of the world\, how do we hold onto this sense of new possibility? \nJoin us for a serene learning and mindfulness practice session offered in partnership with RUACH\, a Boston-based team of teachers renewing traditions of embodiment and breath in Jewish life. \nTogether in The Boston Synagogue’s sukkah\, we’ll explore why “sitting” and “dwelling” share the same Hebrew word\, practicing gentle guided visualization and breath-awareness meditation practices you can take home with you for the new year. You just might even leave with a firsthand experience of why Sukkot is known as “z’man simchateinu” — the time of our joy. \nNo prior meditation or Jewish learning experience needed\, and all ages are warmly welcome. \nThis meditation will be lead by RUACH Found & Executive Directior\, Yaakov Ginsberg-Schreck \nAbout Yaakov: \nYaakov Ginsberg-Schreck is the Founder and Executive Director of RUACH\, a Boston-based collective of teachers renewing traditions of embodiment and breath in Jewish life. A certified yoga teacher and Yale graduate with a focus in cultural theory\, he teaches Jewish meditation\, breathwork\, and Torah Yoga at synagogues\, schools\, and beyond\, weaving traditional sources with practical tools for holistic well-being\, spiritual vitality\, and cross-cultural exchange. \nBased in Boston\, he is roommate to a bevy of plants\, some favorite books\, and a closet with more sequins than suits.
